Who wants a sundae?!

For many people a sundae loaded with toppings is hard to resist.

I made these tasty sundaes for my kids one night. Topped them with caramel and chocolate sauce. Sprinkles, whipped cream, and a cherry.

The kids rushed to the table and were thrilled to find these tasty treats waiting for them.

Lexi was the first to dig into her sundae. She dipped her spoon in and before she took a bite.....

"Hey! This is mashed potatoes!"

Note the date on the picture. I wasn't home the night of April 1, so I did my April Fools the night after.

The kids weren't happy with me, especially Parker. They did get a real ice cream sundae, complete with all the toppings. But Parker was still bugged at me.

Just wait 'til next year my little pretties! Muwahahaha!

Done

Yes.

I finally got Rob's Valentines gift done. I gave it to him (just a month late) when he returned from a business trip.

I decorated the box and chipboard pages and listed some things that I love about my Rob.

I can't take credit for the idea. Some girls in the neighborhood get together and this was one of the projects.

As we were making our love boxes, we exchanged ideas on how well received our boxes were going to be by our hubby's. Some girls thought their husband would respond something like this, "This is nice honey, but what am I going to do with it?"

I knew Rob would appreciate the gift, but didn't know just how much.

Rob has the box of love on his nightstand next to his bed.

One morning Rob asked me, "When did you put the box on my pillow?"

Huh?

Me: "What box?"

Rob: "The box you gave me. I woke up in the middle of the night and it was on my pillow."

Hehe.

Me: "That's funny, but I have no idea what you're talking about. I heard you rummaging over there in the middle of the night and just thought you were doing something with your alarm clock."

The conversation continued, he was difficult to convince that I really didn't place the love box on his pillow.

He then asked the kids individually if they did it.

Nope.

I truly find it hard to believe that one of the kids woke up in the middle of the night, came into our room without waking us up and placed the box on Rob's pillow. I know for certain that I did not do it. Sorry honey, that leaves YOU!

Which leads me to conclude, that Rob treasures his box of love, even more than I would have imagined.

Rainbow

Driving home from St. George (which happened to be March 18), Lexi asked, "Hey Mom. Why didn't we do anything fun for St. Patrick's Day?"

Darn it.

I thought I had gotten away with it.

Being in St. George on St. Patty's Day, we of course did fun things, but nothing relating to St. Patty's Day, besides wearing green. Making fun green foods was definitely not going to happen while staying in a hotel. However, while packing before leaving home, the thought did cross my mind that I should bring a simple craft for the kids to do in honor of St. Patrick's Day. I knew Lexi would especially enjoy it.

Prepping and packing for a family get-a-way is, of course, always stressful and chaotic. Needless to say, there was no St. Patrick's Day craft or even coloring pages that made it in the bags.

The day after we returned home, Rob came home from work with something fun for the kids up his sleeve.

He had received a little bag of St. Patty's goodies at work. He buried it in the sandbox and drew a rainbow to place over the top of the buried "treasure".

Rob then hid papers with letters around the house. On the other side of the papers were clues and quick activities for the kids. One of them being, "You have three minutes to run upstairs, find something green to wear and put it on."
The kids found the pot of gold waiting for them at the end of the rainbow.
I love my hubby and his creativity.

Nutcracker

Yup.

That's right.

I'm posting about the Nutcracker.....5 months later.

Thanks to Grandma Marie, Lexi and I enjoyed another fabulous Nutcracker performance.

We went with Aunt Tiffany and Caleb.

Love those faces!
So why am I posting 5 months later?
I'll tell you why.
While at Capitol Theatre waiting for Wicked to start, I shared with my family the following conversation Lexi and I had at the Nutcracker.
About 5 minutes into the performance, Lexi whispers to me: "Hey, Mom."
"Yes."
"This is the same as last year!"
It was very difficult holding back my chuckles.

Opening Night!

As some of you know, tickets were painfully difficult to get.
My niece had one request for her Christmas present. Just one. That would be a ticket to Wicked.
The morning the tickets went on sale, I was on my computer, cell phone, and home phone while
trying to decorate Parker's birthday cake. Rob tried a couple of times at work on his computer.
My mom was also on her phone and computer. One sister (trying desperately to fulfill her daughter's wish) decided the night before that she was going to go stand in line at 3 am. Crazy, I know. Another sister and her hubby relieved her at about 6 am.
It was impossible to get through by phone. The website wasn't able to hold up to the crazy amount of insane people trying to get tickets (yes, me being one of them). The line was beyond outrageously long. People had camped out for who knows how long.
Chances weren't looking good.
I would get occasional texts from my sister.
"Is this really worth it?"
"We might be sitting alone."
Well, we were obviously successful in purchasing our tickets. By the time my sister got up to the counter our options were single seats, or the director's box.
Don't let that title fool you.
While the seats weren't fabulous, we had our own private "box" (with just a couple of other people) and had a fantastic time.

Me with 2 of my sisters, mom, and niece.

We started our night at the Blue Iguana, where we enjoyed a fabulous Mexican feast. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. The Blue Iguana is well known for their many varieties of mole. After asking our waiter a couple of questions about different mole sauces, he kindly offered to bring us samples. Yes!

He presented us with a beautiful platter of assorted mole sauces to dip our fresh tortilla chips into. I'm so glad we sampled. The cocoa was too much in some, and others were too spicy. I was very pleased with my selection.

So the next time you go to the Blue Iguana, ask for a sample platter of mole sauces.

Our next stop, was of course Wicked!

The show was amazing. The characters mesmerizing. The costumes and stage compelling. The painful experience of acquiring tickets, well worth it.

Oh baby!

I really didn 't mean to drag on the result and keep you all in suspense for quite this long. My apologies!

Pink or blue, you ask?

For now, our Peanut is PINK!

As I mentioned previously, the doc is 97% sure the baby is a girl. To be safe, we have explained to the kids that there is a possiblity that the doc will discover the baby is a boy.

Parker was hoping for a boy, "to gang up on Lexi". Lex was, of course, wanting a sister. And I think Dyl was following Parker's lead.

I wanted to share the exciting news with the kids in a fun way. My sister suggested an Easter egg hunt. Fabulous idea!

We spelled out "It's a girl!" and put each letter in a plastic egg.

Parker and Lexi unscrambled the letters while Dyl watched.

When they discovered what it said, Parker quietly expressed a little disappointment, Lexi smiled big and Dyl was just enjoying his tasty sucker.

I was recording this and asked Dyl, "Do you understand what is going on?"

His reaction was hilarious. Hopefully tonight, Rob can help me figure out how to post the clip from our camcorder.

We are so excited to welcome a new baby into our family. I'm loving the butterfly movements I feel in my tummy that are becoming more frequent and enjoying thinking PINK.

Proud Parents

This is our P Diddy.

Parker brought home this certificate from school. Yes, it's just a paper. BUT, this paper gives Rob and I good reason to be proud of our son. This certificate tells us that P Diddy scored in the top 10% nationally in reading on a state test.

To honor Parker and to celebrate, we hit the candy store.

Parker enjoyed his edible rewards.
He's still working on the giant jaw breaker.

Parker looked so handsome in his church clothes on a Sunday. I tried to get him to let me take his picture with his certificate. Nope. He didn't want to do it.
After changing out of his church clothes, Parker came downstairs and decided he wanted to set the timer on the camera to take this picture.
No certificate. No handsome church clothes. Oh well, I'll take what I can get.
We love our P Diddy.
